We at The Martial Horse and The School of the Trooper are devoted to assisting equestrians in reaching their highest potential.  We have developed a series of courses and demonstrations for equestrians of all skill levels. Our goal is to provide clinics and demonstrations that cover the topics that interest people in regional locations that are convenient.

 These courses are designed to assist in your journey as a horseman but are not and should not be the end of your training and education. They are but an introduction. We strongly encourage continued education with the wide variety of available options from other qualified individuals.

    This course provides an overview of the many competitions within The International Series, a basic understanding of requirements of competition, and an understanding of the rules participants will be judged by.

    This course takes perspective horse owners through the labyrinth of considerations regarding horse ownership, care, and selection.

    This course covers a range of issues that riders bring to the horse. It explores solutions and offers tools to assist riders in dealing with the issues they cause.

    This course looks at how humans fall from a horse and what measures can be deployed to increase the odds of a safer landing. Students will begin on the ground learning basic techniques and gradually progress to higher platforms.

    This course examines strength and agility training for the rider with key focus on riding into later life in greater comfort and allowing the rider to develop positions while mounted that will increase overall success.

    This is a 6 day course designed to increase rider confidence. Riders of any discipline will benefit regardless of your riding style. This course will employ the use of a wide range of training aids including guest instructors, obstacles, and cows. We have found that once a horse can develop an understanding that they are able to cause a large animal such as a cow to move away from their overall confidence vastly increases.

    Each days class will begin with a Coffee Chat and end with a Ride Out followed by a Wine & Review of the days events.

    This one day course introduces students to basic Martial Horse Training and Philosphy. It examines the similarities and differeneces to other disciplines and looks inot the history of Military Horse Training.

    Barb starts out with the Horsemanship we'll need to help develop a partnership with our horses. She works on teaching people how to think and relate to the horse in a way the horse can understand based on how the horse thinks, perceives and communicates. By using horsemanship, vaquero style and classical dressage techniques she helps develop the horse mentally and physically towards any goal or discipline. Students will work on ground work, ridden work, equitation, dressage and vaquero style concepts while learning to adjust to where the horse is mentally, physically and educationally.

This fun and exciting two day course will give you the tools to successfully negotiate the many challenges you and your horse may encounter on the trails of life while building a confident relationship and partnership with your horse. Barb starts out with the Horsemanship we'll need to help develop a partnership with our horses. She works on teaching people how to think and relate to the horse in a way the horse can understand based on how the horse thinks, perceives and communicates. By using horsemanship, vaquero style and classical dressage techniques she helps develop the horse mentally and physically towards any goal or discipline. Students will work around a variety of physical obstacles while learning to adjust to where the horse is mentally, physically and educationally to support them through the obstacles of life.

    This Course covers basic Military/LE drill. Students will begin on the ground without their horses learning basic drill movements and patterns. They will then transition what they have learned to mounted drill movements.

    Drill movements covered include:

    • working in single file columns,

    • working in 2, 4, and 8 person columns,

    • working at gait in column formation

    • transitions form columns to formations and back to columns

    • formations covered include those basic to military and LE
